Winemaking Leadership
Tony Winspear, who joined Balgownie Estate in 1994, has been instrumental in shaping the identity of our wines. Now serving as our Head Wine Consultant, Tony continues to share his expertise and passion for traditional, low-intervention winemaking techniques, ensuring each varietal reflects its true character and the nuances of its vintage.
Wine By Sam
In 2025, Balgownie Estate partnered with Wine By Sam, based in Seymour, Victoria, for our wine production. Led by renowned winemaker Sam Plunkett, who brings over 30 years of expertise, their team works alongside our Head Wine Consultant, Tony Winspear, to craft wines of exceptional quality. This partnership ensures our winemaking continues to reflect the character and excellence Balgownie is celebrated for.
